Yasser Korany, PhD, PE, PEng, LEED AP, PMP, DFE, FCSCE Expert Witness & Consulting Forensic Engineer [Resume]

Dr. Korany is a highly respected forensic expert witness who specializes in investigating construction failures and deficiencies. He has conducted over 1,000 complex investigations to date and was qualified numerous times as an expert witness by all levels of the court in both Canada and USA. He is a board-certified diplomat in forensic Engineering by the National Academy of Forensic Engineers (NAFE). He is a designated Consulting Engineer in Ontario and a licensed Professional Engineer in Ontario, Alberta, British Colombia and in the State of Michigan. He served on several technical committees and professional boards including Alberta’s Board of Academic Examiners. Dr. Korany is an active member of many recognized professional organizations in Canada and USA including the Canadian Standards Association and the Forensic Engineering Division of the American Society of Civil Engineers (ASCE). Dr. Korany authored and co-authored over 100 peer-reviewed technical papers published in leading scientific journal and international conference including the ASCE Forensic Engineering Congress.

Prior to calling Ontario home, Dr. Korany was a Professor in the Faculty of Engineering at the University of Alberta where he taught several undergraduate and graduate level structural analysis and design courses and provided forensic engineering consultancy services throughout Alberta. Throughout his 35-year career, Dr. Korany has applied his unique combination of academic and field experience to identify the root cause of failures and distress for institutional and industrial facilities, parking garages, stadia, farm structures, and low-rise buildings. Dr. Korany is a certified Project Management Professional and people motivator who leads by example. His lifelong leadership and contributions to the profession have been recognized by several awards and honours. Elected by his peers, he has recently been made a Fellow of the Canadian Society for Civil Engineering (CSCE).
